Beginning one’s genealogy research can often seem very complex and daunting but it need not be so. Here are a couple of tips to get you started.
1. Decide which side of the family you are going to research first. Search for one SURNAME at a time to avoid confusion.
2. Outline what you know already about your family tree. Is there anyone in your family that has already done genealogical research? They may be able to give you a good start on your genealogical quest.
This is a good time to start thinking about how you will organize all the information you will start accumlating. Develop a system now and you will be well on your way to successful genealogy research.
